KidsOut ‘Question of Sport’ Glasgow
Istead returned to the impressive Old Fruitmarket venue in the centre of Glasgow to produce the latest in a series of fundraisers for the KidsOut charity. The historical venue was a functioning market for 100 years before it was transformed in the 1970’s into a concert hall and event venue, used by BBC Scotland for many of its concert broadcasts.
For gala dinners the venue’s capacity is 500 and KidsOut filled the event space with generous benefactors on the night. The hall has kept much of the character from its trading days, with the original advertising hoardings and sections of cobbled walkways still visible, along with the balcony from where the market traders finalised large deals.
Our team installed a bespoke backdrop and stage for the charity, utilising a large graphic print canvas as an eye catching centrepiece. As the venue has a listed status, we have strict rules as to where equipment can be mounted or suspended so on this occasion, we chose to use freestanding projection and lighting rather than the typical ceiling mounted style.
With the addition of 50 LED uplighters to colour the walls and cavernous roof space, the finished effect was stunning and capped off a successful event as the charity smashed through their fundraising target. Well done KidsOut, next stop Cardiff!
